Project Manager Agriculture | Agronomist

Job Description

We are looking for a full-time Project Manager Agriculture for our client. The farm, about 22,000 hectares, is in the north east of Ukraine. This area, also known as the “Bread Basket of Europe”, is particularly suitable for agriculture and dairy farming, because of the type of soil and the favorable climate.
This farm was established in 2007 with the aim of operating a large-scale agriculture operation with a long-term vision. Respect for people and nature is a central theme. This is why they spend a lot of time constructing and maintaining good cooperation with the local people, as well as the local and national government.

Thanks to the specialist knowledge and workforce of the local population, and the use of the latest agricultural machinery and techniques, the crop yield of the country has increased without depleting farmland. Our client has a large dairy farm located in the same region. The harvested crops are used to feed the cows, and the manure is used to make the soil more fruitful.

To support the growth of the organization and work efficiency, we are looking for a:

Project Manager Agriculture – Agronomist

The Job
As Project Manager Agriculture you work and lead on projects aimed at optimizing a more sustainable cultivation & storage of different crops in Ukraine. Special attention goes out to precision farming. Some of your tasks and responsibilities are:
• Collaborating with colleagues, growers and scientists in both the Netherlands and Ukraine;
• Acts as a source of information for our stakeholders and a sparring partner for your colleagues;
• Translating trends, questions of customers, legislation, sustainability requirements and cultivation and processing problems into a vision for cultivation and storage;
• Creating support among the Ukrainian colleagues and build a strong relationship to achieve pre-determined goals;
• Responsible for a continuous improvement of the processes;
• Analyzing data and establishing procedures.

Job qualifications
• Cultivation knowledge and experience; at least a Bachelor degree in plant cultivation and you have experience with different (cash) crops & storage;
• Proven experience with (international) project management, creating support and getting people involved and aligned;
• You are able to translate cultivation challenges into a vision and strategy and ultimately into practical solutions and proposals;
• Analytical skills , a no-nonsense attitude and affinity with databases, GPS data and statistical software;
• Willingness to travel.
• Knowledge of languages: Dutch, English and (preferable) Ukrainian
